Emmanuil Kazakevich (1919–1962) voluntarily joined the army in July 1941 as an ordinary soldier. With experience on the battlefield, he rose to the position of Assistant Commander in the reconnaissance section. He actively participated in the defense of Moscow, the Warsaw liberation battle, and the storming of Berlin. He was wounded three times and was honored with orders and medals for his valor on the battlefield.
After the war, Kazakevich wrote extensively about the life of soldiers, the extraordinary virtues displayed by the Soviet army, and the deep friendships forged amidst war.
Recognizing his literary contributions, the government honored Kazakevich with prestigious awards twice.
**Mitruni Hrudayam** is a poetic saga of profound love.
The story follows Pavel Akimov, a brave and battle-hardened battalion commander, and Anichka Belozyorova, a young interpreter. Their love blossomed during the Great Patriotic War, and they married amidst the chaos of battle.
However, just as their lives were set to flourish in happiness, the brutal war shattered their dreams. Tragically, Pavel never got to see his daughter, Katya.
Like a sacred hymn and a powerful anti-war protest, Kazakevich’s story reflects the highest human emotions and ideals.
We are delighted to announce that **Bala Books Publications** is soon reprinting this masterpiece, bringing it once again to readers. Stay tuned for its release!
