Bala Books Publications is a heartfelt literary initiative founded in memory of Sri Late M.S. Bhaskar, a passionate educator and Associate Professor of English who inspired generations through his teaching. Established on January 20th, 2025, by his daughter as a solo endeavor, Bala Books aims to honor his legacy by making literature more accessible across languages. With a mission to translate works into and from Telugu, and to republish timeless, non-copyrighted books, Bala Books is committed to preserving literary heritage for future generations. Guided by strong family support and encouraged by mentors in the literary world, Bala Books is not just a publishing house—it is a tribute, a vision, and a journey of love for language and stories.

📚 What We Do

At Bala Books Publications, we are committed to enriching the literary landscape by offering meaningful and accessible content to readers of all ages. Our publishing efforts are thoughtfully divided into three main categories:

• Copyrighted Works – We approach authors or their family members to obtain permission to republish their literary creations, ensuring due credit and respect to original voices.
• Non-Copyright Content – We carefully select valuable literary works that are not under copyright and are often unavailable in book form, with the aim of preserving and presenting them to modern readers.
• Children’s Literature – We curate and publish engaging stories for children, including timeless tales from old Telugu magazines and fresh content from contemporary writers.

In addition to these, we also focus on translating literature between Telugu and other languages, building bridges between cultures and making powerful stories more widely available. Each book we publish is chosen with care, cultural significance, and the reader in mind.

Our ongoing efforts include translating the works of iconic authors such as Rabindranath Tagore, Munshi Premchand, Shiv. K. Kumar, William Shakespeare, and Hans Christian Andersen into Telugu, making their timeless stories more accessible to regional readers.

At the same time, we are curating translations of contemporary voices such as R.K. Narayan, Usha Subramanian, Geetanjali Shree, Arundhati Roy, and Jhumpa Lahiri, bringing modern perspectives and literary diversity into our catalog.

Through this initiative, we aspire to create a rich, multilingual dialogue that celebrates both classic and contemporary literature, and helps readers explore the beauty of stories from around the world—through the lens of Telugu.
